Sr. Controls Engineer

This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and commissioning controls programming for distribution center projects. The role involves programming controls from the ground up, with a primary focus on Rockwell/Allen Bradley systems. Responsibilities include the on-site implementation, testing, and commissioning of projects, as well as providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead large project programming creation and guide other Controls Engineers.
• Develop PLC and HMI programs from the ground up.
• Oversee onsite project implementations and commissioning.
• Design controls and communication architecture, including PLCs, I/O distribution, and Ethernet communications.
• Program devices such as conveyor systems, MDR, VFDs, scanners, and printers.
• Provide controls and electrical engineering technical support to internal and external teams.
• Commission instrumentation and distribution center systems.
• Coordinate with Electrical Engineers, System Architects, and Project Managers.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of in-depth controls programming experience is required. Experience must include working in a build shop environment, not solely maintenance. Candidates should be capable of starting up entire facilities independently.

Technical Skills

Expert-level knowledge of Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs is necessary. Proficiency with VFDs, conveyors, and other distribution equipment is required. Some electrical knowledge is also needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within a material handling integration (MHI) or distribution environment is a plus.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Controls Engineering is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude of equipment operation is preferred.

Work Environment

This position requires a willingness to travel up to an average of 30%. While the role is remote, there is a preference for candidates who can come onsite to the Orlando office periodically. The role may require flexible hours, including weekdays and weekends, to meet project deadlines.
