Wage: $13 - $15 /hour

Status : Part-Time 

PURPOSE : The Production Assistant primarily assists with prepared foods production, while also supporting coffee roasting, packaging, and labeling. The Production Assistant will offer consistently excellent customer service and provide occasional cashier support.

REPORTS TO: Deli Lead

DIRECT REPORTS: None

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES :

Operations

• Prepare ingredients and produce menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. 
• Follow daily production schedules and established pars; communicate shortages, delays, and replenishment needs. 
• Package products securely and accurately label ingredients, allergens, dates, weights, and prices. 
• Follow proper handwashing, personal hygiene, allergen handling, temperature control, storage, and date-marking procedures; complete required logs. 
• Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work surfaces; complete assigned cleaning tasks and maintain orderly production areas. 
• Rotate ingredients and finished products, monitor freshness, record waste, and communicate purchasing needs. 
• Stock and rotate prepared foods and coffee displays, maintaining freshness, availability, and attractive presentation. 
• Assist with roasting, packaging, and labeling coffee according to established procedures
• Assist customers and operate the register as assigned, following established cash-handling procedures and providing friendly, accurate, and efficient service. 

Brand

• Give every customer excellent customer service. Follow through on all customer questions and requests. Surprise and delight the customers with accurate, polite and enthusiastic service. 
• Be knowledgeable about all products and their location (retail & back stock) in the store.
• Assists customers with submitting a special order, customer comment card, or other customer forms.
• Be familiar with cooperatives, memberships, and how to properly sign up a member.

Cooperation

• Effectively communicate with other staff members while maintaining a positive attitude and respectful tone. 
• Assist customers in all departments, in prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary. 
• Cover overflow cashiering.
• Cover cashier breaks as needed.
• Answer & route phone calls. 
• Attend trainings, webinars and conferences as assigned. 
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Deli Lead or General Manager

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong attention to detail. 
• Ability to accurately follow recipes, measure ingredients, portion products, and apply labels and prices 
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow proper food handling, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices 
• Ability to manage assigned tasks, keep track of production needs, and completes work within scheduled time 
• Ability to read recipes and instructions and calculate quantities, weights, and measurements. 
• Is reliable. Arrives on time, follows through on commitments, and communicates promptly about problems 
• Respectful team member with great customer service
• Can safely handle ingredients and equipment, work on their feet, and move supplies, with reasonable accommodation
