Medical Assistant (PRN)Pagosa Springs Medical Center - Pagosa Springs, ColoradoPosition SummaryPagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant (MA) to support our Rural Health Clinic on a PRN basis.The Medical Assistant works under the direction of a physician, healthcare provider, or Registered Nurse to assist in delivering high-quality patient care. This role supports clinic operations through patient intake, assisting with procedures, performing point-of-care tests, administering medications and immunizations, and ensuring accurate documentation within the electronic health record.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic environment.Key ResponsibilitiesRoom patients and complete intake assessments including vital signs, medical history, medications, and allergiesAssist providers with exams and minor proceduresPerform CLIA-waived point-of-care laboratory tests as orderedPerform EKGs, nebulizer treatments, ear lavage, dressing changes, and other clinical procedures within scope of practiceAdminister medications and immunizations as ordered by the providerFollow the seven rights of medication administrationDocument all medications and treatments accurately in the electronic health recordFollow up on outstanding patient orders, referrals, and prior authorizationsRespond to patient phone calls and portal messages appropriatelyAssist with scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating patient careProvide patient education regarding medications, procedures, and preventive careReinforce provider instructions and treatment plansPromote preventive health and wellness educationMaintain exam rooms and clinical suppliesAssist with inventory and supply monitoringEnsure patient documentation is accurate and complete in the electronic health recordSupport clinic workflows and quality improvement initiativesWhy Join Pagosa Springs Medical CenterCommunity-focused Critical Access HospitalSupportive team-based clinic environmentOpportunity to contribute to high-quality rural healthcareOrganization guided by WISER values: Wholeness, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence, and RespectQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferredMinimum two (2) years of clinical experience preferredOutpatient clinic or physician office experience preferredCLIA waived laboratory testing experience preferredImmunization program experience preferredCurrent AHA BLS certification for healthcare providers requiredStrong patient care and clinical support skillsAbility to perform patient intake and clinical procedures efficientlyStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesProficiency with electronic health record systems and basic computer programsWork EnvironmentOutpatient clinic setting with frequent patient interactionExposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and medical equipmentModerate noise level with frequent interruptionsRequires standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patients during proceduresCompensation & BenefitsBase Compensation Range: $18.00 - $22.38 hourly, based on years of relevant experience.PRN Differential: PRN Employees in this position receive a PRN Differential of an additional $1.00 per hour.Benefits include sick leave and retirement plan with employer contribution.Job Type: PRNShift Type: WeekdaysApplications are accepted on an ongoing basisPagosa Springs Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
