Generator Repair Technician (Winder)As a Generator Repair Technician (Winder) you will perform operations involving the inspection, disassembly, assembly, repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical components in Turbine Generators with emphasis on the Generator Rotating Field.As a Winder you will:Perform mechanical disassembly, refurbish & reassembly of generator rotors in high quality and timely fashion using induction heating machines, large propane torches, overhead cranes and various hand and power tools (i.e. removal and installation of couplings, fans, retaining rings, wedges, blocking, copper coils)Perform work according to technical drawings and work procedures with minimal supervisionBraze copper winding connectors by propane torches and induction heaters.Perform and assist with all generator's electrical diagnostic tests according to testing procedures.Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issuesParticipate in continuous improvement projects.Qualifications/Requirements:High School Diploma / GED or Equivalent or 2 years of relevant work experienceMinimum of 3 years of experience working in a mechanical or repair fieldEligibility Requirements:This position is 100% onsite at GE Atlanta Service Center in Chamblee, GA.Ability and willingness to work overtime, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays.Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the futureMust successfully complete a drug screen and background checkDesired Characteristics:Associate's Degree / Trade School DegreeMinimum of 2 years of experience with small to large generators, electric motors, stator and/or electrical component windingMinimum of 3 years of experience with assembling / disassembling end bells / retaining ringsMinimum of 3 years of experience brazing, either by torch or inductionExperience performing electrical testingApprenticeship card from state certified apprenticeship programPay Transparency:The pay for this position is at $29.9327/hour. This position is also eligible for a $1.00/hour shift differential hourly rate increase.
