Position Summary
We seek a candidate whose teaching and research are centered on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI). Primary duties involve teaching undergraduate and graduate MIS courses, conducting high-impact research that appears in top peer-reviewed journals on the Culverhouse journal list, and contributing to service as assigned by the department, college, and university.
Detailed Position Information
The Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science at the Culverhouse College of Business, University of Alabama, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management Information Systems with a start date of August 16, 2027. Successful candidates will be expected to conduct and lead independent, high-impact research in MIS, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to departmental and university service at a level appropriate for the rank of Assistant Professor. Potential teaching assignments range from large lectures of an introductory MIS course to graduate, courses, including PhD.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A doctoral degree in MIS or a closely related field by the time the appointment begins;
2. Candidates must provide tangible evidence of a strong commitment to lead independent research as lead authors and publish in MIS journals recognized on the Culverhouse Journal List, particularly in the 'Aspirational' and 'Excellent' categories: -journal-list/.
3. Evidence of interest in and enthusiasm for teaching excellence;
4. Willingness to provide service for the operation and functioning of the department, school, and university.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Flexibility and latitude in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. 2. Prior industry/professional experience. 3. Experience in teaching project-based courses with industry collaboration.
